Dean Acheson, U.S. Secretary of State, born Dean Gooderham Acheso, in Middletown, Connecticut, on April 11, 1893. Cyrus R. Vance was born on March 27, 1917, in Clarksburg, West Virginia. He attended Yale University and earned his B.A. in 1939 and his LL.B. in 1942.
